Man, what a weird morning. I remember turning on my alarm clock last night, the time set for 7:30 in the morning so I could get ready for work by 8, but the next thing I know it's 8:30 and the people are calling me asking where I am. So I'm pondering how my alarm clock got turned off. One possibility is that I turned it off after waking up the first time, then laying back down for a few minutes. However, I usually remember when I do that, and this time I don't remember anything. Another option is that I turned it off while I was sleeping by accident. Since I have just a mattress on the floor, and the alarm sits right by head, it's possible that I moved up in my bed and accidentally turned off the alarm.
Well, whatever the reason, I was an hour late to work, which isn't all that bad. I was able to pick up 2 hours of work last night, so I'm still an hour ahead of my game. Speaking of games, I'm off to play Minesweeper on the front desk's computer...which runs Microsoft 2000 with 128 megabytes of RAM...FUN!
Alright, so I'm sitting at the front desk, getting paid to write in my journal. This is really nice. But anyways, now is the time to talk about all the good stuff that happened yesterday.
First, the four of us went to our morning classes, then I had a Student Government Meeting during the break hour. After that, we stocked up on pop, got into Nic's car, and hit the road going North to Minneapolis. Like any good road trip, most of the funniest stuff occurs during the rides to and from. This is no exception. On the way there, we saw a garbage truck going like, at least 70 miles an hour (I video recorded it hoping it would lose control, crash, and explode...but nothing happened unfortunately). We also saw a full-size school bus towing a small geo-metro-like car. Ok, so really nothing exciting for all those who are reading this, but damn it was funny at the time. When we reached the Iowa/Minnesota border, we stopped at the big red barn and CJ and Justin had a snowball fight. I'm not who won, since they both started chucking snowballs at the car while I was inside video recording. The rest of the way to the Mall of America was pretty much uneventful, except for our discussion on why schools couldn't have a program called "Gifted And Youthful".
While we were in the mall, we found out that it kinda sucked overall. There was only one GameStop in the entire place, mixed in with one RadioShack and one Circuit City. The rest is all overprices crappy preppy stores that when you go in, the actual atmosphere makes your head implode. However, while we were stopped at a mall directory looking for a store, some guy came up and asked if we had Jesus in our hearts. We all stood there and were like "uhhhhhhhh" and before CJ could really say what he wanted to say, the guy goes on to explain how something 10 times worse than what happened in New York is going to occur sometime in the year 2005. OMG THAT'S THIS YEAR!! OH NOES!! Yeah, we all laughed after he walked away and pretty much was the biggest highlight of being in the actual mall.
So after all that, we finally went back to the car and headed back to Iowa. Things that happened on the way back include: CJ lighting his hand on fire...multiple times, Justin winning a staring contest with the camera (even though I'm pretty sure that happened on the way TO the mall, but I don't really care), another snowball fight between CJ and Justin (CJ won that time, I believe), and the usual quoting from various tv shows/movies. BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET!!! We stopped in Ames on the way home so that Nic could visit with a friend. So he dropped Justin off at his girlfriend's place, and dropped CJ and me off at Maple/Willow/Larch where we dropped by Sam's place and surprised him like none other. So then we hung out and watched the footage that I had on the tape thus far. Good stuff...good stuff indeed.
so yeah, for no reason whatsoever, Justin, CJ, Nic, and myself are going to St. Louis tomorrow. Don't know why, don't really care...it just means ROAD TRIP!! lol
YAY! I have a job again! I love the fact I don't even have to leave my apartment building. I work at the front desk for 6.50 an hour. This is perfect for me, because right now I'm subbing for someone who had to go home, so I'm picking up at least 20 hours this weekend. And more to come in the following weeks. After I pay back some people here (the total is around 20 bucks), everything I make is saving up for Acen. I want to actually have decent money. Shouldn't be a problem. I talked to Kyle and i owe him 85 bucks. I'll have that made this weekend, so I'm really looking forward to it now.
I was up around 8:30 this morning, so I went outside for a bit. Oh man, it was great. It was already 50 degrees and sunny. It made me remember of past LAN parties in Cedar Rapids. Getting up early, packing up my computer, and heading with some friends to CaRNaGGe. It reminds me of that because there was never a time where it rained while travelling. I remember it stormed bad during a LAN party once, but never on the way. I love the smell of morning...the only thing to top that is the smell of rain. Anywho, as summer approaches, I get more antsier for Acen. lol...ok i'm done for now...peace out!!
Ok, so i'm struck with a little bit of insomnia. Granted it's only 11:40, but I usually go to sleep before then. Sleep is always a good thing. Sure everyone makes fun of the time I choose to go to sleep, but frankly I don't care. I want this quarter to end right now - I hate night classes. 4 hours of complete boredom.
My favorite baseball team starts their regular season on April 4th, so i'm getting pumped up about that. Kyle also asked if I could drive to Chicago for Acen, so I agreed. He's also lending me the money for Acen Registration since I only have a volunteer job right now. THANK YOU AGAIN KYLE!!! Now all that's left is to get Hotel Room Money - I hope I can pull that off. That'll be a fun weekend. Right before Finals for Spring Quarter. I don't have school on Fridays, so Kyle, Sam, whoever else will be going with me - we're leaving EARLY friday morning. It'll quite possibly be an overnight here on Thursday and then we'll go east on 80 from here Friday morning!
I don't really know what else to talk about, but I sure as hell am not tired. This is the second night where I haven't been able to sleep before 1. I'm stressing out about something...but whatever it is eludes me. I've even tried meditation to try to help relax me, but nothing prevails. I don't know...I do know I worry about stuff too much, but this time I don't even know what the hell i'm subconciously worrying about!! Well...I guess I'll try to get some shut-eye...
A new quarter, a new chance to improve myself in my school career. I did pretty well last quarter, two A's and a C+. I'm happy about that. My classes this quarter seem to be good, save Math of Finance. I'm really gonna have to work for that class. So far it's not hard, just lengthy. I didn't have my night class on Monday cuz the teacher didn't show up, so tomorrow will be the first of my night classes. My third class is Tech Support, where I get to learn about computers and learn how to build one.................
And now, to all my friends out there who take time to read the nonsensical stuff that I write:
Thank you for being there for me when I need you. Thank you for putting up with me, cuz I know there are times where I can be overbearing, just to say the least. Thank you for always being honest when I needed honesty, and not just what I wanted to hear. But most importantly, thank you for being my friends.
I probably won't be online much for a while, seeing as how I'll have homework 90% of the time, so if anybody needs anything, give my cell a call!
P.S. We had our first thunderstorm of 2005 on Sunday. That was freakin' awesome, I love thunderstorms.
Well, I did all I could while I visited my parent's house. When they're done with painting the living room, they can move the furniture back and then dismantle my desk and do whatever with it. All there will be is a bed and dresser. I packed everything important to me into many boxes and stacked them in my closet, and remain there they shall.
But yeah, now i'm back in the seat of my X-wing, and leveling up so I can get Master Pilot ranking. It's tough work, but i'm almost there. I have two skills left to learn, and it takes about an hour and a half per skill. SO yeah...if you need to get a hold of me for any reason, the best way would probably be by phone. Well...here goes nothing...
Thank God February is almost over. Just about 6 and a half hours left. Then onward to March, where hopefully it feels a lot more like Spring than it does right now. I am happy that there weren't that many very cold days this month. If we ever got snow, it was gone in 3 days max. That and there were plenty times where it felt like Spring already. But yeah....MARCH!!
I've been cleaning my room all day today. Packing things up from my desk and clearing my room out. Found some really funny stuff - a lot of pictures that I have completely forgotten about. And just a bunch of other stuff. Like the letter my eighth grade teacher made the class right to our future selves. Funny, funny stuff. Well, time to go shopping for stuff that I don't need to pay for - huzzah! Then back to the apartment tomorrow.
